Joe Masiello is co-founder of FitnessMASH and FocusNYC. He has studied and implemented innovative programs ranging from weight loss strategies to strength and conditioning. Masiello first acquired a clientele as a personal trainer while studying at the University of Miami. He currently holds certifications from The National Strength and Conditioning Association, The National Academy of Sports Medicine and The American Academy of Health and Fitness Rehabilitation Professionals.
An avid proponent of continuing education for trainers, Masiello has completed over 50 specialty programs, including core training, pre/post natal, heart rate training and athletic training. As a Medical Exercise Specialist, he actively collaborates with rehabilitation therapists, designing and implementing post-rehabilitation programs.
Masiello has been featured on CBS News and in The Daily News, I-Village Online, Our Town East Side, WB-11 News, Star Magazine, Fitness Magazine and Fox 5. As a renowned celebrity trainer, he was chosen as a contributor to Dr.Jana Klauer’s New York Times bestsellers “How the Rich Get Thin” and “The Park Avenue Nutritionist’s Plan”.
Joe brings a heartfelt commitment to FitnessMASH and intensive expertise in every facet of fitness.

Gabe Valencia is co-founder of FitnessMASH and FocusNYC. In addition to attending numerous continuing education courses, mentorships and clinics throughout the country, Valencia has received certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, the American Council on Exercise, the National Academy of Sports Medicine and The American Academy of Health and Fitness Rehabilitation Professionals. As well as being a driven fitness entrepreneur, his specialties include corrective exercise, performance enhancement, conditioning, postural assessment and strength training.
Fads and celebrity hype are truly taboo for Valencia: he personifies that rare breed of trainer who approaches his profession as a science. This distinction has earned Gabe the respect of his clients, peers and the media; he has also been a fitness consultant for CBS-TV, WB 11; In-Style, Shape and Marie Claire magazines; Forbes.com, the Daily News, and I-Village Online.
A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Gabe’s eclectic aesthetic and passion for excellence is a driving force in the growth and success of Focus Integrated Fitness
Meaghan Shea is Editor of FitnessMASH. She discovered her passion for both fitness and writing at Colby College, where she was a four-year member of the varsity softball team. She graduated with a degree in English and moved to New York, beginning her fitness career as a personal trainer at the New York Health and Racquet Club and intern at Fitness Magazine. She went on to be Fitness Editor for The Exercise Group – which publishes Exercise For Men Only, Men’s Exercise, Best Body and Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness Magazines – and now works as a contributing writer for the company.
Aside from her personal training career with FocusNYC, Meaghan is also pursuing her Masters degree in Applied Physiology at Columbia University. She brings a rare combination of experience in both the editorial and fitness realms to FitnessMASH.
Michael Marasigan has his Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from Columbia University. He was also an NCAA basketball player for Binghamton University, and is now an avid golfer in pursuit of expert status. His interests include sports and youth training, and he has extensive experience designing exercise programs for children ages 6-14. Aside from years of personal training experience, Michael has held management positions at four Equinox Fitness Club locations, where he taught courses in client assessment, exercise technique, program design and exercise physiology. He now heads the personal training department at FocusNYC, mentoring new trainers and assisting in the development of the company’s educational curriculum.
In addition to his fitness expertise, Michael brings to FitnessMASH his unique ability to understand every personality under the sun; which is why you’ll probably find you can relate to most things he has to say.
Chris Matsui specializes in Sports Performance Training, and has helped athletes of all ages and abilities improve their fitness. While working toward his Bachelors degree in Sports Science at East Carolina University, Chris worked at the ECU Strength and Conditioning Center in Greenville, NC, where he supervised and assisted eight Olympic sports teams. He also interned with the Carolina Panthers, serving as a Strength Coach and directing the team through its pre-workout routine. Before joining FocusNYC, Chris held the position of Assistant Sports Performance Director at Velocity Sports Performance in Syosset, NY. He developed age- and level-appropriate workout regimens for a number of athletes, and assisted with the facility’s set up and marketing strategies. He is extremely passionate about coaching and education, and enjoys giving lectures on sports performance to local high school students.
Liz Graham received her B.A. in Communication and Media Studies from Fordham University in 2008. She specialized in Media, Culture and Society, and has since held positions in both editorial and marketing. She now serves as the Office Manager and Assistant Marketing Coordinator at FocusNYC, overseeing the company’s internet marketing campaigns and keeping our social media sites up to date.
Liz is also FitnessMASH’s “General Population Specialist” – our GPS device, if you will – and helps us navigate the mindset of mainstream society. She might stay mostly behind the scenes, but she plays a big part in our online efforts.
