PLEASE TAKE ACTION

by Meaghan posted February 7, 2012

Listen up: Congress has recently introduced HR 3699, the Research Works Act. If passed, this bill will prevent the National Institutes of Health or any other agency from allowing private-sector research to be disseminated online without prior consent of both the publisher and study authors, even if the funding for that research came from OUR tax dollars.

Even abstracts on PubMed will be unavailable. If we want to read the results of federally-funded research, we will have to buy access to each journal article individually – which could cost up to $30 a piece – even though WE pay for the research in the first place.

What’s even worse is that we’ll have to rely on the often misinformed mainstream media with an agenda to entertain to get our health information – and this is just not acceptable.

So PLEASE, take action against HR 3699 by filling out THIS FORM. It only takes about 30 seconds.

Thank you for your assistance.
